At the Well, our first priority – in addition to providing a home for our LGBTQ2+ family in both larger and smaller communities, is to offer a safe and inclusive environment for our staff, customers and community members. Several months ago, allegations were levelled against the business and our management team, allegations we take very seriously. Since then, we have co-operated with the police, law-enforcement investigators and the Ministry of Labour completely and with full transparency. Indeed, we welcomed these investigations, as we knew that we would be fully exonerated, which we have been. With those investigations now concluded, there are zero active cases against The Well and its management team, and there are no ongoing official enquires of any nature that we are aware of. While this has not been an easy time  – one that has certainly impacted our team, all of us are truly thankful to the many customers, community members and organizations that offered your support on line, through notes or directly to our staff. The Well sees every day as an opportunity to continue to earn your business, to providing a home for those who need it, and as an opportunity to do our part to support the communities we serve. The political climate in North America, attacks on our community, a roll back on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – and even potential threats to Canadian sovereignty – will make for challenging days ahead. The Well family is committed to doing our part in standing along side all of you who continue in the march toward true freedom and equality, and we will continue to provide safe, welcoming and inclusive spaces where everyone is welcome.
